Performance and application of ABS pipe

Water supply and drainage pipes have developed from black metal steel pipes, gray cast iron pipes and galvanized steel pipes to plastic pipes. In the past decade, plastic pipes have developed rapidly due to their incomparable advantages over metal pipes, such as light weight, corrosion resistance, no rust, easy coloring, good thermal insulation and beautiful appearance. Various new plastic pipes have been launched one after another, from the earliest PVC pipes to high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, aluminum-plastic composite pipes, polybutylene (PB) pipes, random copolymer polypropylene (PP-R) pipes, etc. These pipes have been increasingly widely used in different fields. However, these plastic pipes have some deficiencies in high temperature and high pressure performance, environmental protection, recycling, raw material sources, processing technology, etc., and cannot fully meet the requirements of actual use. In recent years, (ABS) pipes can solve the above problems. It not only has the common advantages of other plastic pipes, but also overcomes the defects of poor weather resistance of ABS resin.

Performance of ABS pipe

1. Comparison of ABS pipe performance with other pipe materials ABS resin has good impact strength, creep resistance and corrosion resistance, and the operating temperature is -40~95℃. Compared with metal pipes and other plastic pipes, ABS pipes have outstanding comprehensive performance. Compared with galvanized pipes, ABS pipes have the following advantages:

(1) The density is only 1/6~1/7 of that of galvanized pipes, which is light and easy to transport;

(2) Good chemical corrosion resistance and long service life;

(3) Good thermal insulation, the thermal conductivity is only 1/200 of that of galvanized steel pipes, saving insulation costs;

(4) The inner wall is smooth, does not scale, does not breed bacteria, has a small friction coefficient, small water flow resistance, and the flow rate can be increased by 30%;

(5) The materials can be recycled. The waste generated in the production of pipes and pipe fittings can be recycled after cleaning and crushing.

2. Physical and mechanical properties of ABS pipes According to market demand, the author uses ABS as the main raw material, adds antioxidants, anti-ultraviolet absorbers, etc. for modification, and produces cold water pipes with a diameter of 15~200mm and more than 130 specifications of matching pipe fittings, hot water pipes with a diameter of 15~160mm and matching pipe fittings with good weather resistance. It is connected by threaded connection, cold sol connection, flange connection and other methods, and can be used in the range of -40~95℃.

3. Anti-aging performance After 1000h artificial climate accelerated aging test and hot air aging test, the tensile strength, impact strength, bending strength and other properties of ABS cold and hot water pipes have no obvious changes.

4. Applicable temperature range and service life The working temperature of cold water pipes is -40~60℃, and the working temperature of hot water pipes is 20~95℃. Within the working temperature range, ABS pipes maintain their quality characteristics unchanged. Under normal conditions, they can be used indoors for more than 50 years.

5. Hygienic performance ABS pipes do not contain any heavy metal stabilizers, and there will be no metal leakage, so they are non-toxic. The product immersion test shows that the water quality meets the control water quality standard, the Ames test result is negative, the acute oral toxicity (LDSO) determination is non-toxic, and the mouse bone marrow micronucleus test is negative, which meets the sanitary product standard.

Installation

ABS pipes can be assembled by threaded connection, cold melt connection, flange connection and other connection methods. There are many connection methods, the joints are firm, the installation is convenient and the quality is reliable.

ABS pipes can be used for water supply and drainage pipes, tap water, pure water delivery pipes, air conditioning engineering piping, ice water system, seawater delivery pipes, sewage collection and drainage pipes, fluid treatment, electrical piping, swimming pool pipes, beverage delivery pipes, compressed air piping, environmental protection engineering pipes, etc.
